Police Disperse #BuhariMustGo Protesters in Abuja

Heavily armed Police operatives on Friday morning dispersed #BuhariMustGo protesters in Abuja.

The police stormed the Airport road venue of the protest and thwarted the October 1 planned mega protest firing tear gas canisters into the air to disperse the protesters.

According to an eyewitness, the protest began around 6am and was going on smoothly before the arrival of the police.

The protesters, who were mainly youths, were chanting: “President Muhammadu Buhari must go” while also calling for revolution.

The #RevolutionNow and #BuhariMustGo protest in Abuja coincides with the nation’s 61st Independence anniversary.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore on Thursday urged Nigerians to protest on Independence Day to reject President Muhammadu Buhari.

The activist was reacting to a statement by a presidential aide Femi Adesina on Thursday titled ‘October Independence Anniversary: President Buhari to broadcast to the Nation’.

“I am urging all citizens and non-citizens of Nigeria to boycott @MBuhari’s national “INDEPENDENCE DAY” broadcast scheduled for tomorrow, instead you should partake in protests across the country tomorrow,” Sowore had said.

Normalcy has since returned to the capital city.
